How the FileCaptureMD works

A database utility that will capture multiple images and associate meta data. This utility and process will automate a time consuming task if done manually.

Bulk image editing Organising the images prior to capturing:
  1. Copy files to a working area / folder. This means you can keep all your existing files intact and only work on copies.
  2. If you need to resize or change the image file format (i.e. tiff to jpg): this can be done by bulk processing software such as InfranView (available as freeware) or Microsoft® Picture Manager. Do this once you have copied the files to a working area / folder.
  3. You can create sub-folders within your working area / folder and it is advised you batch process the files. The FileCaptureMD is able to process thousands of files but you might find it easier to work with small groups.

Capturing files using the FileCaptureMD FileCaptureMD is a utility that lets you capture all the image files in a folder and record them in a database with associated meta data. Essentially there are 4 steps:
  1. Browse to the folder to capture.
  2. Select / enter your meta data - information associated with all the images you are about to capture.
  3. Start the capture process.
  4. View the images and edit the meta data - you can also rename files directly.
Bit more detail:
  1. Batch process a complete folder by recording all the files in the folder and storing them directly into the FileCaptureMD.
  2. It records each file name including the path and create a link to the file.
  3. Meta data: there are a number of fields available to record data per file: Auto ID, Item ID, Title, Sub-title, Description, Type, Name, File name, Path / Link, Date Captured, etc.
  4. A unique ID will automatically be generated for each record.
  5. The Item ID will be available to record an existing registration / Item IDs.
  6. Complete / In-Complete: important to indicate this once you hve checked the images and meta data. This means you can easily identify new files when importing each batch.
  7. Offers the functionality to rename an image file directly via the FileCaptureMD user-interface.
  8. Two windows: fields to capture the data and view of the actual image.
  9. The FileCaptureMD stores the image records in a structure and format to be compatible with Logos Flow database products.
